PERMITS AND LICENSES: Both mobile and fixed site ride operators apply for annual permits. Must pass inspection before issuance of permit.

INSPECTION: Annual inspection. Periodic inspections based upon past history. Some cities in Michigan require a state inspection before rides can operate.

A State of Michigan Inspector will be performing a paper inspection of your climbing wall and policies. The state inspector will look primarily for:

  • Engineering Plans and Drawings
  • Operations Manual
  • Inspection Records and Logs - to be performed by Qualified 3rd Party Inspector
  • Staff Training Records and Certficates.

The State of Michigan will not climb onto your climbing wall and inspect the structure,  terminations, fasteners, etc. Having a state inspection is a duty to demponstrate to the state that you are in compliance with the law and that is it. You must hire a 3rd party inspector to perform a hands on inspection of your climbing wall or tower in the State of Michigan.
